Sambar powder
SAMBAR POWDER
Sambar powder is one of the most important masala in all the south Indian kitchens. The below explained recipe of the sambar powder is commonly prepared in our house every month. This also recollects my childhood days when my mom used to prepare this sambar powder, we used to sort and grab the roasted coconut pieces/powder which tastes so good.
INGREDIENTS:
- Dhaniya seeds/ Coriander seeds - 1/2 cup
- Methi seeds/ fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Dry Coconut powder - 1 cup
- Red Chilies - 4 to 5
PROCEDURE:
Dry roast Coriander seeds/ Dhaniya seeds.
Dry roast methis/ fenugreek seeds.
Dry roast Dry Coconut powder.
Dry roast Red Chilies.
Grind All the ingredients into a fine powder.
procedure 2:
Other procedure is just the addition of dry roasted chana dal before grinding. The chana dal when added enhances the taste and also thickens the sambar a little more.
