Mango lentil soup

Ingredients:

  • Raw green mango                                                    - 1 
  • Toor dal                                                                     - 1 cup
  • Salt                                                                             - As per the taste
  •  Rasam powder, red chili powder & turmeric      - 1 tsp each
For tempering:
  • Oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, 
         curry leaves, hing(asafoetida)                                  - 1tsp each

Procedure:

Step 1:
Brush the raw mango on all the sides and let it roast on all the sides evenly.


Step 2:
Roast the mango by turning it occasionally until it turns black and becomes soft.


Step 3:
Once the mango is roasted and cooled, remove the skin and extract the pulp from it.


Step 4:
Heat a tsp of oil and add all the tempering ingredients to it.


Step 5:
Add the boiled toor dal to it and stir well.


Step 6:
Add salt, rasam powder, red chili powder to it and bring it to boil.


Step 7:
Add the mango pulp to it and stir continuously until there are no lumps of mango pulp.


Serve the rasam with hot rice or have it as a soup.
