Bisi Bele Bhath
Ingredients:
For Bisi Bele Bhath masala:
- Kashmiri red chilies - 4 to 5
- Jeera seeds - 1 tsp
- Dhaniya seeds - 1 tsp
- Bay leaf - 1
- Pepper corns - 1tsp
- Dry coconut powder - 1 cup
- Urad dal - 2 tsps
- Chana dal - 2 tsp
For gravy:
- Boiled toor dal - 1 cup
- Cooked rice - 1 cup
- Boiled vegetables - 1 cup
- Peanuts - 2 tsps
- Fresh green peas - 1/4 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Oil - 2tsps
- Jeera seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Urad dal - 1 tsp
- Chana dal - 1 tsp
- Hing - a pinch
- Curry leaves
Procedure:
Step 1:
Dry roast all the masala ingredients and grind them into a fine powder.
Step 2:
Melt ghee in a pan, add all the tempering ingredients and allow it to splutter.
Step 3:
Add cooked rice, toor dal and vegetables and stir well.
Step 4:
Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ground bisi bele bhath masala and stir well.
Step 5:
Cook for 10 - 15 mins and the bisi bele bhath is ready.
